Paintings: Colors of Loíza a Osun & Flaming June

ReeL InK | eARTh expos3d | Painters & Sculptors

This beautiful painting created by Antonio Broccoli Porto, titled, Loíza a Osun (along with Samuel Lind’s portrait of the Queen of the Taíno tribe) is my favoriteIt is a portrait of a Bomba dancer in Loíza, Puerto Rico.  Porto used acrylic on canvas to do his interpretation of the English painter & sculptor, Sir Frederic Leighton‘s ‘Flaming June‘ which Leighton used oil on canvas.

I love the colors in both artists paintings every time I look at these two paintings.  Here are a few photos of some flowers I took earlier this summer that I found similar color pallets painted by mother nature herself.

To view and/or purchase Porto’s paintings you can go to his site, Studio Porto and Sir Leighton’s painting, Flaming June currently resides at the Ponce Museum of Art.
